The VICIS RDI team strives to design and build helmets that excel in protection, while also providing the highest level of performance. To do this, our team has developed new testing methods that reveal the sensitive interaction between our helmet and an athlete’s head. By employing a high resolution sensor system that can measure and record surface pressure in many different locations, VICIS has been able to optimize fit and comfort.
In addition to our laboratory testing, we have used a series of on-field sessions to gain valuable player feedback. Our focus has been fit and comfort, but also the sensation athletes experience during impact. These on-field sessions validated the results we observed with high resolution pressure testing over the past several months. Elite athletes provided very positive feedback about the ZERO1’s comfort at baseline and during collisions.
Below shows the head surface pressure observed with a VICIS ZERO1 compared to a leading competitor during a 5.5 meter/second impact to the front of the helmet.
